Student Community Service Program

Both high school and college students generally have a small amount of required community service hours for educational requirements.  With parent or guardian approval, 16-year-old students are able to volunteer independently; however, student between the ages of 13 and 16 must be accompanied by their parent or guardian.

 

The student responsibilities include upkeep and assistance (providing laundry assistance, organizing inventory, office assistance, etc.) – all highly important, in demand jobs at the shelter. 

 

There is no direct animal care involved unless properly trained and supervised by the shelter manager.

 

Requirements and Restrictions: 

  • Ages 13 to 15 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian
  • Ages 16 to 18 are permitted to independently volunteer with parent/guardian approval
  • All volunteers are required to have current health insurance
  • Student volunteers are not required to attend orientation
